History and Facts: Named for the area of southern Germany, this breed is a shorter, smaller version of the Hanover. It is also thought to be mixed with Tyrolean Hounds. It was originally bred during the Middle Ages to track large game.

The Bavarian Mountain Dog is calm, quiet and poised.

Excellent health record. No known hereditary conditions.
Exercise: The Bavarian Mountain Dog requires daily brisk exercise. This dog is not appropriate for city life or apartment dwellers.
Grooming: The Bavarian Mountain Dog needs minimal grooming: occasional brushing and bathing.
